Anita Olivia Koester is a poet, editor, and blogger. She is the author of four chapbooks including Apples or Pomegranates (Porkbelly Press), Arrow Songs (Paper Nautilus Press) which was one of the winners of the Vella Chapbook Contest, and Marco Polo (Hermeneutic Chaos Press). She is currently revising a new manuscript that was a runner-up for the 2018 Dorset Prize (Tupelo Press).
Her poetry is published or forthcoming in Pleiades, The Florida Review, Mid-American Review, The Journal, Tupelo Quarterly, The Pinch, CALYX Journal, Muzzle Magazine, and elsewhere. Anita's poems have won the Gwendolyn Brooks Poetry Award, So to Speak's Annual Poetry Contest, and Midwestern Gothic's 2016 Lake Prize for Poetry, amongst others. Her writing has been supported by the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference, Vermont Studio Center, PLAYA, Hambidge, and SAFTA.
Anita is currently a Poe/Faulkner fellow at the University of Virginia. She is also a former editor at Green Mountains Review.

Besides being a writer, Anita is also an artist and photographer, her work is published in The Adroit Journal, SKY+SEA Anthology, Paris Lit Up, Photographer Forum’s Best of Photography 2016 and on the cover of a few chapbooks and books.
